Introduction

In 2022, Haematology immunophenotyping programs have migrated to the new platform. New terminology and a scoring system were introduced. The latest report format is divided into four sections; namely, the performance summary, dot plots, results review and markers analysed for assessment. The commentary gives a descriptive comment on the performance and interpretation of results. However, the report does not compare the type of fluorochrome and manufacturer used in the assay. The analytics functionality in the myQAP portal is a tool to display this additional information.

Method and Results

The new scoring system enables the allocation of scores that reflects how a measurand is clinically significant. However, the scoring system alone could not differentiate poor-performing laboratories. The analytics functionality was used to review the data for sample HA-IP-22-01 retrospectively. The target interpretation for CD33 was positive. Figure 1 and Table 1 illustrate the results for CD33. The participant (denoted in pink dot) used a combination of PC5/Beckman Coulter to demonstrate the activity of CD33. Three participants used the combination of PC5/Beckman Coulter, and 2 returned a positive interpretation. The participant returned a 15% expression for CD33 and interpreted the results as negative.

Conclusion

The current report format and the scoring system reflect overall performance. The report illustrates the final analysis incorporating the clinical, morphological and immunophenotyping of the case study. However, the technical aspect of the information could be best analysed and presented using the analytics functionality.

Comparison can be made on participants using a specific fluorochrome/manufacturer combination. Furthermore, the analytics could compare this specific combination against the returned results from all participants, thus giving a better indicator of the technical comparison between methodologies.
